Ethics in Settlement – Alan Parry Gives Presentation at NCBA Seminar

On Thursday, February 11, Alan Parry was one of several featured speakers at the North Carolina Bar Association seminar entitled “The Latest in Complex Business and Chapter 75 Litigation: State and Federal Courts 2016.  Alan’s presentation was entitled “Ethical Considerations in Settlement” and focused on how to handle ethics  related dilemmas that can arise for lawyers and mediators during the course of settlement negotiations and mediated settlement conferences. 

The seminar was part of the annual meeting of the Antitrust and Complex Business Disputes Section of the NCBA, which serves lawyers who practice in the areas of antitrust and trade regulation as well as complex business litigation, including class actions and business torts.

Alan has significant experience handling civil disputes, including complex business disputes, in state court, federal court and arbitration.  He is also certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission to conduct Superior Court mediations, and he is frequently asked to speak to legal and business groups about litigation and dispute resolution issues.

Alan is an active member of the North Carolina Bar Association, where he is a member of the Litigation Section Council and also the Insurance Law Section. The North Carolina Bar Association is a voluntary statewide organization, founded in 1899, which is composed of more than 19,500 lawyers, paralegals and law students.
