Alan Parry to Join Board of Dispute Settlement Center

Alan Parry has been elected to the board of directors of the Dispute Settlement Center, based in Carrboro.  Alan’s three-year term on the Center’s board will begin in January 2017.

The Dispute Settlement Center, founded in 1978, was the first community mediation center in North Carolina.  The goal of the organization is to promote and bring about the peaceful settlement of disputes and to prevent the escalation of conflict through mediation, conciliation, facilitation and training.  The Center offers services to the entire community, without regard to ability to pay, and serves nearly 3,000 people each year.

Alan is a mediator, certified by the NC Dispute Resolution Commission to conduct mediations in Superior Court cases, as well as estate and guardianship matters.  He is regularly appointed by courts and selected by parties to serve as a mediator in cases around the State, and also authors articles and speaks to legal and business groups regarding mediation and other dispute resolution issues.  Alan is currently a member of the NC Equal Access to Justice Commission, as well as a former member of the board of directors of Legal Aid of North Carolina.
